Description
Visiting Bolivia's Cerro Rico mines in August 2009. The mountain started being exploited 500 years ago by the Spanish Conquerors; since 1985 local cooperatives of miners are granted the right to excavate. Estimates are that between 8 to 12 million people perished in the galleries, due to accidents or lung diseases.
